Somehow, I was lucky enough to capture two elopements in one week and I have to tell you, they're quickly becoming my favorite thing to capture. Eloping allows the couple to relax, take every minute in, and have a little secret just to themselves even if it's only for a few hours. Plus, when you elope, you can get views like this for your portraits ;) Samantha & Matthew opted to elope at the overlook at Ravens Rock in Morgantown, WV.
Sometimes I meet my clients before hand and know exactly what to expect. Sometimes, I don't. Prior to Shantel & Evan's special day, I had communicated almost exclusively with Shantel's best friend, Mary so when I pulled in the parking lot and spotted a handsome guys standing under an umbrella in a bright blue blazer and the most bad ass driving shoes I've ever seen, I knew it was going to be an amazing elopement!
Lisa and Jeremy had a beautiful ceremony, and I'm happy to have been their wedding photographer and to be able to witness and capture all the special moments between these two and their family. Lisa was gorgeous in her delicately detailed wedding gown, her bridesmaids were gorgeous and had some awesome taste in getting ready music, and the guys were a fun, cheerful, and carefree bunch to work with for this wonderful wedding celebration.
Kasey & Braden | Pittsburgh, PA Engagement Portraits
I've known Kasey forever, and I was so excited when she reached out about her wedding with Braden. I had such a blast capturing her sister's wedding last year and I couldn't wait to work with Kasey again. When we started talking about locations for their engagement portraits, Kasey let me know that it was her dream to have them done at a mansion.
Chelsea & Matt have been together a little over 5 1/2 years. Chelsea was hanging out at a local bar with her cousin when she and Matt started talking. After sharing a slow dance at the bar, the two were inseparable. Even though Crystal said "Friends don't let friends date Matt Rhodes", Chelsea stuck things out, luckily for Matt lol.
Lisa & Jeremy's West Virginia Engagement Portraits
I’m forever thankful for clients and couples that just put all of their trust in me with their portraits. When Lisa, Jeremy, and I started chatting about locations for their engagement portraits Coopers Rock came up. When I found out that these two love spending time in the woods hiking and looking for deer sheds, I jumped at the chance to hike up to Ravens Rock for their portraits.
When I first spoke to Tommy & Jessica about their wedding, it was mainly Tommy that had all the questions and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. When I met with them in person, it was Tommy who had the timeline ready to go and all the other information I needed. I later found out that this isn't normally how Tommy is. During his brother's speech at the wedding, it became very clear to me that this was really because Tommy was making sure their wedding day was perfect for Jessica.
This Pride month, I thought I'd do something that I don't normally do, post a blog that's a little more personal. On May 28th, Jackie and I celebrated our 2nd year of marriage, something that wasn't legal all that long ago in the great state of West Virginia.
Last year, we were in the middle of moving into our home and dealing with all the issues that come with being a first time home owner, Jackie had two sprained ankles, and we just didn't get to celebrate our first anniversary the way I wanted. In my eyes, that meant I had to go a little bigger this year to make up for it. What better way than to visit our wedding venue, Rich Farms in Smithfield, PA, for a picnic and some self portraits?
Morgantown, WV Engagement Portraits at the Botanical Gardens
I had the pleasure of meeting Samantha at a bridal expo this winter in Morgantown, and sadly, I was already booked for what I know will be a gorgeous, intimate wedding. I was pretty bummed out that I wouldn't get the chance to work with Samantha and Charles, but as luck would have it, they contacted me for their engagement portraits! After multiple rain outs, mother nature finally cooperated and allowed us to capture some gorgeous engagement portraits at the Botanical Gardens in Morgantown, WV.
When Cullen contacted me saying that he was ready to pop the question and needed my help to pull it off, my heart melted. I couldn't believe this kid that I watched grow up, captured his senior portraits, and watched get thrown out of my best friend's room all these years was ready to ask the love of his life to marry him.
When the weather didn't look like it would cooperate, we quickly came up with a plan B because Cullen couldn't possibly wait one more day.
