Morgantown, WV Engagement Portraits at the Botanical Gardens
I had the pleasure of meeting Samantha at a bridal expo this winter in Morgantown, and sadly, I was already booked for what I know will be a gorgeous, intimate wedding. I was pretty bummed out that I wouldn't get the chance to work with Samantha and Charles, but as luck would have it, they contacted me for their engagement portraits! After multiple rain outs, mother nature finally cooperated and allowed us to capture some gorgeous engagement portraits at the Botanical Gardens in Morgantown, WV.
Samantha & Charles are a couple after my own heart. If you're ever having a rough day wondering why this or why that, just look at the way Charles looks at Samantha in these photos. I found myself smiling just as big as these two while capturing their photos because its so crystal clear how much they love each other.
One of the first things that drew me in deeper to their story was learning that not only was Charles a musician, but his answer to what kind of music do you play. Charles said he was hesitant to say country, but really, he just loved telling stories. My heart soared. I can't tell stories with words, but my goal is always to tell a couple's story with photos. I knew we were going to capture amazing portraits because we were both their for the story. I am always drawn to songs with a good story, and this guy is committed to just that. Check out some of Charles's music and stories here!
As if I wasn't loving every minute spent with these two already, I learned that Samantha played college softball and the two love spending time watching baseball games or drinking coffee in local shops. Samantha is now involved with non profit organizations for Ohio University.
Samantha & Charles were so focused on their love during their session that it was so easy to fall in with the moment and just capture them as they are. Samantha loves that Charles has such compassion for all living things, whether its humans or animals, everyone is treated like family. Charles couldn't help falling for Samantha's independence and her selflessness. Samantha is the type of person that listens to your problems and carries them as her own.
On November 18th, Samantha & Charles accompanied by their dog, Tucker, went for a hike to the top of Seneca Rocks. There, overlooking Charles's family farm, he dropped to one knee and asked Samantha to spend her life with him. He knew that he lived for those little moments he had with her everyday and he wanted that forever. After all, its all those tiny moments that make up everything we love.
I think its important to find those things in your everyday life that you love. I love sitting down with Jackie in the morning for breakfast and on the weekends cuddled up with a cup of coffee in the morning. For Charles and Samantha having their morning coffee in the garden during the warmer months is their normal. Again, you know my heart is swooning over their love for good coffee. For me, finding those little moments everyday that just set your heart on fire keep you going and hold you together.
Among other things, Charles has a talent for knowing random facts and history. For instance, I learned some amazingly interesting things about coyotes while shooting their portraits and I'll never forget that little tid bit. :)
