Sometimes I meet my clients before hand and know exactly what to expect. Sometimes, I don't. Prior to Shantel & Evan's special day, I had communicated almost exclusively with Shantel's best friend, Mary so when I pulled in the parking lot and spotted a handsome guys standing under an umbrella in a bright blue blazer and the most bad ass driving shoes I've ever seen, I knew it was going to be an amazing elopement!
In the days leading up to their elopement, I reached out to Mary to make sure that no matter the weather we were on. I was informed that Shantel said she had umbrellas and nothing was stopping her from marrying Evan on that day. It was cold and rainy, but it made the absolute perfect photographs for their elopement. We all braved the rain and found a spot near the overlook at Coopers Rock in West Virginia where these two could tie the knot.
Believe it or not, we managed to get Shantel out of the car and walk all the way into the overlook behind Evan without him ever seeing her. It was so precious to still be able to capture his first view of his gorgeous soon to be wife. Surrounded by just their very best friends, the officiant, and myself, they pledged their love to one another in the foggy, rain at Coopers Rock.
After, they continued to brave the weather for some of my favorite wedding portraits to date! These two were up for absolute anything in their amazing looks. Shantel did a fantastic job of picking out their outfits and keeping them anything but traditional. I was extremely surprised to hear that they actually purchased some of my favorite pieces from Amazon! And Shantel's gorgeous flowers? Evan did most of the work on those himself!
Shantel & Evan, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your extremely special, adventurous elopement in the great state of WV. That fog and rained definitely made for some portraits worthy of the Almost Heaven state.
